Campero International, S.A., operating as Pollo Campero, is the largest fast food chain in the continent of Americas and one of the world's largest fast food chains in the fried chicken market. Pollo Campero was founded in 1971 under the leadership of Guatemala businessman Dionisio Gutierrez and was later exported to other continents.
Campero has restaurants in Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Spain, People's Republic of China, Indonesia, India, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the United States. Campero has over 320 locations, including 50 in the United States.[1] According to Hispanic Business Magazine, overall average sales in the U.S. average $1.9 million per location. In 2002, Pollo Campero partnered with Adir Restaurants Corp., a sister company to La Curacao, to open up the first location in the U.S. in Los Angeles.[2] The restaurant had one million dollars in sales in its first 47 days.[2]
The chain's U.S. headquarters are located in the Lincoln Centre Tower II in Dallas, Texas.[3]

According to the company's website, the first Campero restaurant opened in Latin America in 1971 by the Gutierrez family, who continues to operate it today. the Current CEO Juan Jose Gutierrez. In 2002, the first U.S. Campero location opened in Los Angeles. There are now more than 50 locations across the United States[4] in 15 states,[5] and more than 300 Pollo Campero restaurants globally.[4]
On November 14, 2007, Pollo Campero signed a deal with Wal-Mart to begin opening outlets in select Wal-Marts in 2008.[6]
